The Italy tour continues! Today I am headed to the medieval city of Siena, which was once the site of the famous Horse Race of Palio!

I’m not gonna lie – it’s NOT easy for me to pick my favorite Wordless Wednesday and Fixed-it Friday posts. There are SO MANY great photos, and I have dozens of you to thank for submitting them. So…mille grazie!
Can you believe that I have been posting WW photos every week since 2011, and weekly FF photos since 2013?? Will we ever run out? Probably not, although I have received pictures of the same door from different people, taken at different times. If I can’t achieve my goal of world peace, maybe I can work toward code-compliance of all doors worldwide. “A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.” ~ Bruce Lee
My second WW photo posted (after the one of the frog on the Von Duprin lever trim) is one of my favorites because it was part of the early inspiration for a topic that has become an important part of my work – the protection offered by a closed door. I shared the photo below with permission from Juan Guerra, because it clearly illustrates this concept.
Since then I have posted dozens of articles, news stories, and other resources about closed doors. Here are just a few:
