Earlier this week I shared photos from my recent trip to Cuba, where I attended a friend’s wedding (post 1, post 2).  As I walked the streets of Havana, I saw so many examples of doors (and everything else) that had been reused, repurposed, or recycled.  I took hundreds of photos and I’m sharing some of them in today’s Fixed-it Friday post.

I especially love the first opening, but it’s so hard to choose a favorite:

I really wanted to see what was happening on the inside of this door, but you know…boundaries <sigh>:

We saw several groups of kids playing basketball in the streets and using the busted-out transoms as the basket:

It’s not uncommon to see a repair at the bottom of the door to address water damage, but I thought the use of angled replacement boards was cool:

As I passed this school, I noticed that they had modified doors on the windows of each classroom to allow some ventilation but minimize street noise and distractions:

One day I saw a man in front of this door repairing a chair with plastic-coated wire in various colors.  The next morning I passed before he opened for business…this is his sign advertising his services.
