ast week, I took my (grown-up) kids to an amazing circus in the middle of Mexico. As soon as we got settled in our seats my older daughter looked across the empty ring and said, “Are you concerned about that heater under the exit sign?”
The circus had set up what looked like halogen heaters in strategic locations around the tent, although I can’t imagine that they did much to raise the overall temperature of such a huge space. Hazards like this are not unusual outside of the U.S., so the kids know the drill. I immediately scoped out the nearest exit, which was blocked for our section of seating with a low gate. I made sure they knew that in an emergency, we were going over the gate and straight outside.
Sometimes you can’t change the circumstances, but it’s important to have a plan in place – and others in the family who are also on the look-out! Happy Wordless Wednesday, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Luckily, the “smoke” from the fog machine hid the heater from my view so I could pay attention to the show. 😐
