Topics that will be covered during this session include:
- Which products can be used on fire door assemblies
- How to modify existing fire doors without affecting the rating
- Filling existing holes when new hardware is installed
- The proper type of electrified hardware to use on fire rated stairwell doors

The Allegion 101 series continues this week. These classes are designed for people who are new to the industry, new to the Allegion family of brands, or just want to learn more about hardware. Tuesday’s session is:
- 1:00pm – 2:00pm EST: Allegion 101 – Secure the Door: Intro to Schlage Cylinders, Keys, & Key Systems
- In this session, we will address the core terms one needs to understand in order to grow one’s knowledge of key systems. You will see how a cylinder works, and will learn how to recognize and describe popular Schlage key systems. Join us for this informative and foundational session to ‘unlock’ the world of key systems.

In addition, our national trainers will offer three more webinars on Webinar Wednesday (all times are Eastern Standard Time):
- 10:00am – 11:00am: Healthcare Hardware
- Gain insights into the difficult applications found in the healthcare arena. In this program, we will highlight various codes & standards that affect these doors as well as security considerations. We’ll also address the challenges associated with the heavy usage in such 24/7 facilities and the importance of simple solutions for common openings. Jeff Tock, AHC, our End User Training Manager, will lead this session.
- 2:00pm – 3:30pm: Decoded 2: Fire Door Assemblies
- Fire-rated openings play a critical role in the life safety plan of a building. NFPA 80 – Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives includes detailed information about fire door assemblies. In this presentation, we will focus on fire-rated swinging doors, including where and when they should be used. We will look at a few types of fire-rated hardware that are commonly used and what they do. We also will review the basic rules and requirements for annual fire door inspections. Finally, we’ll discuss criteria and procedures for ensuring the best possible performance from our fire-rated openings. Jeff Tock, our End User Training Manager, will lead this discussion.
- 4:00pm – 5:00pm: K-12: Designing for Layered Security
- When designing or remodeling a school, security and safety should be at the forefront of discussions and design. It’s important to understand the most common types of threats in educational facilities in order to create layers of security with the appropriate opening hardware to mitigate those threats. In this session, Schlage’s Training Manager, Gordon Malczewski, will provide you with code compliant ways to achieve lockdown status when needed.
