Sometimes it’s painful to see what people will do to their doors and hardware. In someone’s attempt to deaden the sound in an aluminum storefront door, the door ended up with a sticky latch. Upon removing the mortise lock’s scalp plate, the problem was easy to spot. It’s all fixed now!

I’ve seen Worse … lol
Hi Lori,
This is a great case study for the increasing importance in understanding the noise created by doors and locks. I will bring this example into the discussions I’m part of internally as one way customers are attempting to solve this problem on their own.
Thanks!
