Last week I spent an afternoon touring a hospital under renovation after a large electrical fire (more to come on that), and I saw this modification that left me wordless. It looks like electric latch retraction panic hardware has been added to this cross-corridor pair, and I’m not a fan of the power transfer method.
For more information on the latching requirements of health care corridor doors in smoke barriers, refer to this FAQ post.
Thank you to Paul Goldense of Goldense Building Products (not responsible for this installation) for the tour!

It looks like they are trying very hard to do everything but use an EPT.
An EPT would of been more work than a Transfer hinge, would of been easy with the 3rd hinge location and would of taken less time than this work.
An EPT would of required machining the door and frame, more mess and lots of time.
Looks like someone did not want to spend the money on a transfer hinge or fix the auto operator. There is a rubber door wedge under the door and then a wooden wedge next to the wet floor sign. I also never understand why anyone would put the sweep on the push side of the door.
ETH 4 wire minimum (never use 2-wire)
4.5 x 4.5 Standard Weight 5 knuckle Ball Bearing Hinge with non removable pins (NRP)
Yep Sweeps always mount to the Pull-Side
I’ve seen this setup at a casio they had the ET Butt Hinge then surface mount on inside from hinge to Elec. Mortise Lever Lock.
I fixed them with my Best boring jig made
