Guessing a bit but suspect it is used to provide a latch ramp without wearing the aluminum stile. I had to do similar for a custom aluminum mullion where the panic dead latch was cutting a groove into the softer material. I built a 90 degree corner of stainless steel and glued it over the surface. I thought I mine looked better and was more subtle. Lori November 14, 2018 at 12:14 pm - Reply Of course!
