It’s my favorite time of year – Back-To-School Time!  😀  My two younger kids went back to college last week, and my oldest leaves soon for a masters program in Belfast, North Ireland.  If any of you are visiting iDigHardware from Belfast, let me know!

When we were looking at colleges for all of the kids, one of the schools we visited was TCU, the subject of a recent case study from TGP – Technical Glass Products.  It’s a beautiful campus – the university is more than 150 years old, and has been it its current location in Fort Worth for more than 100 years!

The TGP case study discusses the use of several types of fire-rated glazing systems that were needed in order to construct the study rooms inside of two residence halls.  The glass walls, sidelites, and transoms carry a 60-minute fire-resistance rating and an ASTM E119 listing.  The doors are listed to UL 10C with fire-protection rated glazing, as well as meeting the air infiltration/smoke requirements in accordance with UL 1784.  It’s important to understand the difference between fire-resistance and fire-protection assemblies, as fire-resistance-rated products are becoming more common than they once were.
