I received today’s Fixed-it Friday photo from Scott Tobias of arkaSpecs, and I definitely did a double-take. Then I found out that he’s on vacation with his family, and this egress door serves a ride at a popular theme park. What do you think?

It looks really cool and I, like you, had to do a double take. The keypad looks functional at first glance! And the ‘lock’ above could definitely be mistaken for a lockmaster style deadbolt at first glance, too. In terms of codes, in the event of an emergency, I might still try it, especially if I was there in person and realized that a lot of the stuff there was just for looks and not function.
I would definitely try it in an emergency, but it might deter some people.

I think that it MAY give the impression that there’s something more to exit than just depressing the bar.
Yes, I think so too.

I wonder what’s on the other side that requires a keypad? If it actually serves as security and requires input to unlock the door then there’s obviously a serious problem. Pretty crazy but at least the door is very techy looking.
I’m thinking that the keypad is decorative – part of the theme – but it’s hard to tell.

Big oops Step up Keypad activation ? Lots of issues ,definitely a special knowledge door
I’m guessing the keypad is for show, as part of the theme.

Looks real Funky, almost as Funky as the Custom Automatic Sliders I built for a town in Alberta Called Vulcan, They have a Building shaped like the Saucer from NCC 1701 Enterprise, and we build 2 Custom Sliders that looked and sounded like the Doors to the Bridge On the Enterprise……
I will need to see if I still have pictures of the doors
I would love to see the photos!

No worries. Push and go. No rim strike?
The keypad is one thing, in person probably more clearly paint. I wonder about the signage. Under the exit sign is instructions for teams 6-10 to go another way.
I’ve been there and took the exact same picture!
Let’s hope the door isn’t rated…
What a coincidence!
