I love it when non-hardwarey people send me photos of egress problems or faulty fire doors. Today’s Wordless Wednesday photo is from my friend Gia Jobin, who saw this door on a university campus and recognized that there was a problem.

I think Emergency Egress means push the door and get out without moving any part of the door or installed things.
I just cant believe people are too cheap to change the lockset – One dope and you can have a lot of dead people all because of a relatively cheap fix most likely.

From the look of the door and frame the door swings inward or towards you so I cannot believe it would be classified as an egress door (can’t see an exit sign ). However it may be a door from an office or area that leads to a proper egress door. So not only should the lock be removed and a passage set installed , perhaps a better solution would be to change the door hand (direction of swing) to allow for proper exit … Oh yea that might cost some money .. OOPS my Bad…
