It’s not very often that I see terminated stops (AKA hospital stops), so I’m sharing these Fixed-it Friday photos from one of the many airports that I’ve passed through recently. The purpose of a terminated stop on a frame is to make it easier to clean the floor around the bottom of the frame without the stop creating extra corners to catch dirt and debris. One question that arises on occasion is whether it’s ok to use terminated stops on fire rated openings…although these restroom doors aren’t fire rated, you can find the answer here.
