Here’s my theory about what’s going on in the photo. Once the door arrived at the construction site, they realized the architect used architect handing, and the locksmith/door hardware guy used locksmith handing, so they couldn’t hang the door properly. That forced them to hang it the only way they could, as a temporary fix. This is also why they didn’t attach the strike. To make Wally World perfect again, all the general contractor needs to do is write a change order, tear down the front wall, and rebuild it with the outside facing in (sort of like you do with your favorite Bert-and-Ernie-themed underwear when you haven’t washed it in a week). Once the wall is flipped, the door can be installed properly. Obviously, they’ll flip the wall around instead of reframing or ordering a properly-handed door to increase the profit margin. In the interim, they’ll simply secure the door with the typical, almost code-compliant, almost high-security no-name brand warded padlock and hasp from the Dollar Store. Easy peasy.
