I might have to do a “What’s that?” post to explain what we’re looking at in today’s Wordless Wednesday photo sent in by Paul Hawley of P.H. Hawley Associates. Anyone want to take a guess at what happened here?

out of sequence work? Someone forgot to install a strike box (with knockouts for wiring, too) in the frame, before the partition was built? And then, someone else found it in a box of parts, saw the opening number, and attached it?
Not really sure, but that looks like to inside/ back cover for an EPT. this is a good one for wordless Wed.
It looks like someone tried to put an EPT on a narrow face frame and it wouldn’t fit the “other” way.
Looks like a backward installed Schlage GF3000 Shear lock… or it pulled out of the door…
Power transfer electrical box on the wrong side of frame. Should be into the wall
Hmmm.
Looks like the frame was partially installed and the ept is just being stored. Waiting for the door and or final installation?
I wonder if everything is there once you take the screws off?
Need to see more with an update haha
Temporary door block. It provides easier access until the hardware is installed. It also protects the cavity from debris and the wiring until ready for trimout.
It looks like an EPT-2/10 was installed surface mounted instead of recessed! 🙂
