Paul Laseter of Niles Bolton sent me today’s Fixed-it Friday photo, taken in a maternity suite. Do you think this was an intentional double entendre? And am I the only one wondering why there are so many mag-locks?

Considering how heavily health care is regulated and inspected, this could possibly be a situation where the code does not explicitly prohibit two sets of mag lock hardware. Rather than removing and replacing the older set and risk being cited for improper door or frame hole repair, perhaps this organization simply chose to abandon the old set in place and install the new locks side by side.
The article raises a valid point about the prevalence of mag-locks, which I hadn’t fully considered before. It’d be interesting to see a deeper dive into their benefits vs. traditional hardware. Well-written!
….To protect the babies from being snatched….. but funny!!
