Drywall anchors, that is! I saw this Fixed-it Friday photo posted by Steven James Rone on the Union Carpenters Doors and Hardware Facebook page, and he gave me permission to share it here. This is a 90-minute wood fire door, and someone tried to install the door closer (twice) with drywall screws and plastic anchors. I’m wordless!

Not only is it incredible they thought this would work, it is also incredible that once it didn’t work, they turned around and tried the SAME THING.
It must be against their religion to saw SEX BOLT.
Could say THRU-BOLT.
Would doing it the right way have taken even a minute longer? I doubt it.

Is that a manual hold open arm I see also?

But hey, at least we don’t have those ugly ol’ sleeve nut heads on the pull side…
It does not look like the arm is correctly templated which also probably lead to issues
HA! seen this a lot when i first came to the hospital i work at, especially on exit devices. think i’ve got all gone by now though!
Not sure what’s more concerning, the fasteners or the closer being upside down.
