The mission of Safe and Sound Schools is to support school crisis prevention, response, and recovery, and to protect every school and every student, every day.  The organization was founded by Michele Gay, mother of Josephine Grace Gay, and Alissa Parker, mother of Emilie Parker, children lost in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.

The organization’s focus on school safety has led them to create many resources including toolkits for planning and preparedness, supporting children and students, and supporting recovery.  These toolkits include information to help school crisis teams and school personnel support their communities in the aftermath of a crisis, in the short-term and over the long-term.
