I’ve written a few posts about gates lately (refer to the related posts below), and we all know what a challenge they can be to secure – especially if free egress is required. These Fixed-it Friday photos from Tom Breese of Breeseway Doors & Hardware Consulting illustrate some of the problems with this particular gate and the attempted fixes. No offense to the US government, but I think my Aunt Gladys could get through those zip ties (she might need a step-stool)!

But this is one of the few places where the guys behind the gate might be carrying automatic weapons.
I think these are merely meant to discourage people. A chain link fence this high can be scaled in a matter of a second or so anyway.
we should be offended… taxpayers funding that tripe…
Side note: I also find it entertaining that the lock (and strike) are in relatively good working order (or at least appear to be), but what they’re mounted to… well, that’s another story.
