For many exterior doors, a door position switch (DPS) is an important part of the security system; the switch can alert a security station that a door has been opened. In a school, for example, the switch could help to prevent unauthorized use of the door when someone inside the school opens a remote exit to allow someone to enter.
But – hardware is hard. If it was easy, it would be called easyware. The creative DPS installation in today’s Fixed-it Friday photos is currently functioning – it contacts the door when the door closes, but I wonder how long it will last.

What is it? I’d really like to know just how creative they were inside the tape work.
