In Fez, we stayed in two riads – beautiful old houses that have been converted to guesthouses. Check out the stairs…I wouldn’t want to have to get out quickly. The egress rules are a little different here, which isn’t necessarily bad if it results in a good Wordless Wednesday photo.
We have moved on to Chefchaouen, and I hope to have some photos of beautiful blue doors for you tomorrow. Here are a few doors from our riad, Casa Perleta.

I see Phillips screws, some modernity has preceded you.
That particular door is new – most of the doors are ancient. It impresses me that even the new doors are carved and beautiful.
I think the stairs were designed by M.C. Escher!
I have literally had nightmares that involve stairs like that.
