We saw this building from the highway on our way to Red Rock Canyon and it wasn’t hard to track it down and get the address. It was designed by Frank Gehry, and it’s a brain and cognitive center for the Cleveland Clinic. I’m no expert on brain-related stuff, but I think if I was going to my brain doctor’s office this building might freak me out a bit.
I will admit, I had some expectations that the ultra-creative design would have extended to the entrance doors. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Maybe the Plain-Jane doors were intentional, but I think they could have at least had some beautiful door pulls. Frank, if you’re reading this, call me.
Here’s an article about it with some great photos including the interior: http://www.dezeen.com/2010/06/17/lou-ruvo-center-for-brain-health-by-frank-gehry/

An amazing building, but I’m with you on this one, I would have expected the unique design to extend to the doors as well. Maybe a retrofit is in order – or maybe he was going for normality in the sea of chaos…?
I’ve had the privilege of writing a few door hardware specifications for Gehry projects, and you’re right, his design eccentricities do not extend to doors. I’ve talked to him and his veeps about this — shoulder shrugs. Oh well….
Doors get no respect!
