FF: Zip It

Colin Watson of Allegion sent me this Fixed-it Friday photo of a surface bolt.  Zip-tied for extra security.  In a school.  I guess they don’t want anyone using that leaf.  Ever.

    Maybe old and broke?

  2. Greg says:

Interesting way to use a plunger hold open.

  3. David Federico S.H.C says:

With all that paint on the door it was probably impossible to get it off to replace it .. another CHEAP fix . Looks like they had flush bolts on that door that failed so they put the surface bolt on now what are they goinv to do … I know just paint it shut …

  4. Richard says:

Isn’t that a step bolt that usually goes on bottom of door?

  5. Peter Schifferli says:

And they used a ‘foot bolt’ which is intended for the bottom of doors rather than a ‘chain bolt’ designed for the top!
