FF: Zip It

Colin Watson of Allegion sent me this Fixed-it Friday photo of a surface bolt.  Zip-tied for extra security.  In a school.  I guess they don’t want anyone using that leaf.  Ever.

    With all that paint on the door it was probably impossible to get it off to replace it .. another CHEAP fix . Looks like they had flush bolts on that door that failed so they put the surface bolt on now what are they goinv to do … I know just paint it shut …

    Isn’t that a step bolt that usually goes on bottom of door?

    And they used a ‘foot bolt’ which is intended for the bottom of doors rather than a ‘chain bolt’ designed for the top!
