WW: Slippery Slope

There are some AHJs who allow security measures that are not compliant for egress if they’re only used “after hours.”  I always say that this is a slippery slope, because once the device is installed, there’s no guarantee that anyone will remember that the door is supposed to be unlocked during business hours.  Here is one such Wordless Wednesday example, from John Lozano of Allegion

    Despite the storage and gate, which I would not allow,

    There appears to be a padlocked slide bolt on the door, which definitely would not be allowed

    The way this country is going legally, if a burglar broke in elsewhere and accidentally started a fire and was injured, this blocked door would win him a huge payout. Exit means exit… always
