The picture at right has nothing to do with this post, but isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?! I had no idea that I had captured this sloth so well until I was putting a photo book together for my daughter’s preschool class over the weekend. I took the picture in Caño Negro, and the sloth was waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy up in a tree, but he must have put his face into the sunbeam just as I took the photo. I love it!
After spending a week + one bonus snow day in Costa Rica, I know why there isn’t a “Doors of Costa Rica” poster available on Amazon.com. It would be called “Gates of Costa Rica.” In the more urban areas, home security was a belt-and-suspenders system of high walls, steel gates, and razor wire. Many of the businesses added security guards, some armed, and we also saw a couple of businesses with guard dogs.
I noticed a few security cameras, including the one at left camouflaged in a tree. I think there’s a big opportunity for a Costa Rican access control company, and I’ll be happy to come down and do some training on the related code requirements. Well, if there ARE code requirements.
But for now, it’s back to reality. I’m having a tough time reacclimating, but I’m sure eventually I will go back to being as excited about doors as I am about sloths. Thanks for hanging in there. Over the weekend I noticed some website traffic from a security website (Welcome!), and someone had posted a link to my site along with a note that said, “Very cool site. Scroll through a couple of pages, that’s when you start encountering some of the more interesting photos, like this one with multiple intermediate pivots.” I just love that – “Scroll past all of the sloth, iguana, and butterfly photos and get to the good stuff.” 🙂
Here are some photos for the Gates of Costa Rica poster:
