Crash Course in Codes
My new Crash Course in Codes is available here, or on the webinars page.
I created this on-demand class with locksmiths and installers in mind, but several AHJs emailed me after taking the class to say that it was really helpful for them as well. It’s a good introduction to the code requirements for swinging doors, but it can also serve as a refresher because there are some things that have changed in the last few editions of the model codes and standards.

International Code Council Event: Tornado Awareness and Risk Mitigation
Tuesday, February 15th, 2:00-3:00pm Eastern
With the recent deadly storms and tornadoes having claimed the lives of 90 people across 5 states, building safety professionals should understand their community’s risk from tornadoes and how to best mitigate their effects. We invite you to join the International Code Council for an hour with the smartest minds in wind science and tornado risk mitigation for the built environment. Our panel will share their experiences from a recent post-disaster assessment of storm damage in Kentucky and discuss the latest available research and wind science for tornadoes. The panel will also highlight tornado-resistant provisions in the I-Codes and the first-ever criteria for tornado-resistant design recently published in ASCE/SEI 7-22 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures.
