John Danes of Allegion shared these Fixed-it Friday photos recently and I’m still wondering what the purpose of this hardware is. Any ideas?

looks like a homemade overhead stop. definitely newer than the other hardware on the door.
That is a homemade double knuckle arm to tied to a pinion shaft on each leaf, Since both arms are fixed to the pinion shaft whatever one arm does will be duplicated by the other arm. If you push one door open then other door will open simultaneously without being touched.
The shaft ties the two doors together the same way rack and pinyon steering does on the front wheels of a car. both sides work in unison.
You’re a genius! 🙂

Looks like a spring-based door closer.
Homemade coordinator. Should file a patient! Ha ha
DIY overhead stop?
YANKEE INGENUITY…GERMAN ENGINEERING .
Is it coordinating the two doors to open together? OR just a wildly built limit strap?
