Somewhere out there is another life member of the “good ol’ boy” fraternity who is actually extremely proud of their personal ingenuity in having been able to “repair” this door and keep it in service without needing to foolishly waste money on a new door.

I see a few issues aside from the sloppy reinforcement. The door is labeled 1-hour but the stair serves 4 stories. There is a magnetic holder, but are we trusting the spring hinges to close the door? And that latch!

The cover was left off so that more screws could be added daily.

Wonder how often the City Fire Department is inspecting the buildings ?
Does caulking in the added “supports” cover the needed smoke seal???………Asking for a friend……
Having stayed at many “Budget” hotels/motels have seen some really pieces of work, but this one wins the Darwin Award.
