In yesterday’s post about how an experienced hardware consultant can help ensure that fire door assemblies are code-compliant, guest blogger Allison Messer mentioned Overtur. I asked another of my coworkers, Rachael Blondin, to tell us more about this program, and that’s the topic of today’s guest post in my “What’s that?” series.

Here’s more from Rachael…
Being in our 8th year with two high profile launches completed in 2025 and one more on the way soon, I’m grateful for the opportunity to take a moment and reflect, as well as reintroduce Overtur to you from a fresh, reimagined perspective.
There’s a beloved saying in the construction industry: “Doors are 2% of the scope and 80% of the headache.” Ask any technician that works with doors in any capacity and they will likely chuckle and nod their head in agreement. Before Overtur was created, many of us that have been in the industry for a long time knew this problem well and knew it was time to do something about it.
I am very grateful for those that have been with Overtur from the beginning, and we’ve also grown our team with some talented and passionate individuals to help support the cause. The voice of our users is heard in every
decision we make, to ensure we’re solving the right problems. Overtur has grown so much from our inception as an opening specification solution to a full ensemble that meets users where they’re at and always strives to deliver one simple goal – value.
Bringing people together in a collaborative space continues to be a core purpose for Overtur. From the design phase through the construction stage, into operating the building, Overtur has prioritized connection. Connection to your process, connection for you and your partners and connecting the evolution of the opening from concept to a functional door assembly that helps keep building occupants safe.
Our recent release of Overtur’s Key System Management solution has paved a new path in Master Key Design, as well as some subscription-based services to manage complex aspects like bitting & pinning data and key control – key issue tracking. With keying being one of the toughest areas of openings management, in my humble opinion, we just made keys simple. Additional solutions like Stages, Overtur OnSite, Overtur for Revit Plugin, restricted product management, spec requests, Overtur Estimating and Ordering, and purchase order tracking, Overtur provides a connected space and the ability to get work done with some amazing people at Allegion.
In our most recent launch, we’ve expanded Overtur into the inspection space. All types of inspections for your openings can be covered in a simple to navigate environment which allows you to capture, assess and resolve opening needs as required. We’ve paid attention to the solutions currently available to building
owners and inspectors. While there are a lot of options out there to capture issues, we kept our focus on driving our users towards solutions.
As the industry changes, we aim to provide a simplified approach to opening management, and the things that surround them like life safety and access control. Overtur is a solution to your gaps that can easily communicate with your systems, so you’re not jumping from one software to the next with steep learning curves and messy data that performs a fraction of the work. We help you discover the problems and give you the tools to resolve them. The Fire & Egress and General Inspection Activity templates will be the first to pave the way on our inspection path. With more amazing functionality in its wake, Overtur’s Inspection Suite is robust, simple to use and gives you the information you need to make informed decisions.
We can’t wait for you to explore Overtur! Feel free to reach out to our amazing team of folks ready to talk through your needs and see how Overtur can help you make door headaches a thing of the past.
