A couple of weeks ago, I shared some handing instructions from 1887 that were sent to me by Ron Cramer of Security Door & Hardware. Ron sent me something even more exciting (if you can believe it!) a Von Duprin Catalog from way back in the day!
Based on the patent dates and the list of “fire panic catastrophies” it looks like this catalog is from sometime shortly after 1913! I think the Vonnegut Gravity 2- and 3-Point Locking Devices are especially cool. Well, the Double Arm Self-Releasing Fire Exit Latch is pretty interesting too. It’s so hard to choose a favorite!
Check out the whole catalog here, and let me know which products you’re drawn to! 🙂

I like the entire catalog!!!
1. The list of approval agencies
2. A few fires I have not heard about
3. Panic hardware on bifold and trifold doors
4. The statement “”” Cannot be blocked by accident or design””. Hummm welcome to the 21st century.
5. Does state for Panic or Fire
6 Of course my favorite, the word “ Fire “ associated with the hardware. Guess it was a sales point.
I absolutely love this. Thank you for sharing it
Thanks a lot for sharing this catalog, Lori. This is awesome. All those designs look so cool.
I love it too, Hamza!

Interesting… the catalog makes references to “Cremorne” bolts but I have seen these mostly referred to as “Cremone” bolts in most texts I read. I wonder if they are the same thing, different things, etc. Or if the spelling just changed over the years, and why?
