It has been quite a while since I’ve written about the benefits of sleeping with your bedroom door closed, but I think about it every day! Everyone in our family sleeps with their bedroom doors closed, and a lot of my friends have learned about this potentially life-saving habit too.
In today’s Wordless Wednesday post, check out a video from the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department. And if you are still sleeping with your bedroom door open, visit UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute to learn more about the Close Before You Doze public fire safety education program.

But my cats what to come and go as they please. Any fire safe cat doors out there?

Not sure if there are other similar products
Very good example. At the door, appears heat and fire was about halfway down the door.
My house is large with a high cathedral ceiling, but i don’t have any interior walls to put doors on except for bathrooms. It’s just like one big room which is the way I like it. Just a little confused of where the smoke alarms should go. Do you think this is dangerous?
Not sure your set up
1. If separate bedrooms, one in each bedroom
If they have cathedral ceiling, measure three feet down, from the peak, and place anywhere in that triangle.

2. If separate bedrooms, outside the bedroom. If say you walk down a hallway, to three bedrooms, than prior to the first one.
3. On each level of the house, if multi story.
4. If your setup is just one large room, as in a studio, than at the highest point. If a cathedral ceiling, follow the guidelines above.
You can also do a search and get installation in instructions ….. or, call the fire dept, they sometimes come out and give guidance,,,, and sometimes,,,, they will install battery operated ones for you.
