I’ve seen similar things from retail employees that don’t want to wait for a locksmith when the panic hardware is broken and wont secure and they just want to go home (used to be a facilities dispatcher who called around for local locksmiths for after hour emergencies). Their attitude is that they don’t get paid enough to care at the end of the day regardless of what you tell them.
