I have known Charles Anderson, retired AHJ, for many years – long enough to know that one of his pet peeves is signage that deters the use of an exit. What do you think about the Wordless Wednesday photos he sent in?
OK, or NO WAY?

There are better ways. Love the door loop. Made to last.
We do need to give them some credit though!! Good thing they didn’t add 2-3 auxiliary locking devices to the door and frame!!
I would tend to call someone who would do this type of messaging on a required exit an imbecile only I would not want to damage the reputation of those how could legitimately be called imbeciles. (Little bit of humor)
Seen that type of loop before. Happens when the door is pushed to far or something snags it. Is the door supposed to open without touching the bar? Seems strange
this is a receiving door. the signage on the push bar is to stop people from setting off the alarm in the exit device. pushing on the door itself will let you out when the electric strike is energized.
If someone is killed in that building, the lawyers will have a field day.
I encounter this practically on a daily basis. Especially in retail environments. I have also see this in conjunction with a Mag Lock? With a digital Keypad to activate the Mag . Wrong on so many cases !
This is the result of poorly educated staff , management, or anyone who works in this facility.
Putting a ‘Do Not Push On Bar’ sign just makes you want to push the bar. Or is it just me?
Here’s my two cents on this: Code compliance, as that’s a delayed egress device requires certain signage that is quite absent. If that signage was provided on this below the “Emergency Exit, Do Not Block” sign and the “Do Not Push On Bar” was removed, I really wouldn’t have an issue. Yeah, it’s about as pretty a toad, but if those two items were changed, I wouldn’t have an issue. As an individual (not a hardware expert), I understand that door is a staff only door except in emergencies and it wouldn’t really bother me. One final thing to note: Is this a fire door?
Also- only “partners” get to exit in an emergency? If I’m a partner do I get to push the bar? What if I’m a partner carrying a basket? 😉
In all seriousness, by the time someone finished reading the sign and hesitating, it could be too late to get out.
