The 2×4 may be mounted too high to be barrier-free, and the keyed deadlock could be an impediment, but at least it looks like the panic bar isn’t engaged with its strike plate.
Wonder if they had too many people sneaking in the back door to steal potato chips.
Doesn’t appear to have an alarm on it, so perhaps (if door was not deadlocked) the stick could be removed, thrown outside, and then stored in the dumpster.
