I once wrote a hardware specification for the hotel chain where today’s Fixed-it Friday photos were taken (thanks to Tim Weller of Allegion). Based on that experience and the architect’s attention to detail on that project, I’m positive that this is not what they would expect to see on a return visit. 🙁

I give them a little credit. They were smart enough to put the kickplate on the door the people fleeing the inferno have to kick open to escape through.
The duct tape is also a good idea. The fire inspector or AHJ will never suspect the tape is there to cover a hole(s) from a field modification.
But, The LH Door can be opened to allow Free Egress, why do we need the RH door to do the same???? LOL
