When I started this website in February of 2009, I really had no idea whether it would work, if anyone would visit, or how long it would live on.  I was desperate to put answers to door-related code questions out into the universe where people could find them without having to call me on the phone.  That was my sole motivation, as I just couldn’t manage all of the calls.

Here we are, more than 13 years later – THIRTEEN!  And…it’s working!  🙂  Actually, the site has worked so well and is visited by so many people – there are thousands of you and one of me – that I deputized dozens of my coworkers who are now part of the ACE Network (ACE = Allegion Code Experts).  They are your contacts for code questions, code classes, and all things code-related – you can find your local ACE here.

After posting just about every weekday for 13+ years, I am on the brink of reaching a new milestone.  In a couple of weeks, I will publish my 3,000th post.  THREE THOUSAND TIMES I have written about doors and hardware.  Who knew there was so much to say??  I wish someone had written down 3,000 things for me to read when I started in the industry – maybe it would have saved me from a few hard knocks.

Anyway…3,000 posts is something to celebrate, and here’s how we’re going to do it.  Between now and June 17th, clean out your phones, your computers, your file cabinets, the phones of your spouses and kids, your Wall of Shame, or go take a photo of that door you’ve been chuckling about every time you passed it.  Send me your Wordless Wednesday or Fixed-it Friday photos using the Photo Submission form (it’s on the Tools menu^).  I will choose my five favorite photos to post the week of June 20th, and if your photo is posted I will send you a little something from the iDigHardware Prize Vault.

To get us started, I am sharing the VERY FIRST Wordless Wednesday photo, which was posted on January 25th, 2011.

I can’t wait to see your photos, so send them in before you forget!
