David Seeley of WESCO | Anixter sent me today’s Fixed-it Friday photo of a door closer he saw in a Cape Cod restaurant…what do you think? Was it worth the extra effort to partially conceal the closer?

It would have been less trouble to get the longer arm for top jamb mounting for the deep reveal that encountered here
The guys at the Cape Cod Restaurant who concealed their door closer definitely have way too much time on their hands!
Is that closer mounted to the wood piece that is “concealing” it? It looks like there is a screen door on the front view with another door behind it. The adjustable part of the arm usually attaches to the door which would mean that it kind of like a reverse engineered top jamb mount. Any more pictures?
I don’t have any more photos, but I’ll be near Cape Cod this summer. 🙂

They could have just went with a parallel arm to not have a slot with an arm sticking out…
Some wood-grain contact paper would have been easier, and the closer’s arms could have been camoflaged too.
Now that’s an idea! 🙂

Could have put one on with a cover
That would have been a lot easier!
