This week I have been counting down the days until my holiday break – highlighting available resources on iDigHardware.  So far, I’ve shared links to:

  • The ACE Network, a group of Allegion code experts with over 1,000 years of combined experience to help you with code questions and more.
  • More than 100 Decoded articles from my monthly column in Door Security + Safety Magazine.  These articles cover just about every topic related to codes for swinging doors.
  • Wordless Wednesday photos, which I have been posting weekly since January of 2011.  You can click the WW or FF icons in the right sidebar to scroll through past photos in the Wordless Wednesday and Fixed-it Friday categories.
  • Resources to help keep you up-to-date on the 2021 model code changes, including the Allegion Code Reference Guide, a Decoded article, an on-demand webinar, and DoorTalk episodes on the changes.

And finally, I am going to use my last countdown post to address a topic that is very important to me – the fire-safety benefits of sleeping with your bedroom door closed.  I have written about this many times, but there are still people out there who have not adopted the practice of Close Before You Doze.  What are you waiting for??

The Harrisburg Bureau of Fire recently shared the photos below from a house fire where the benefits of a closed bedroom door are crystal clear.  For more information, visit the website of UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute and learn why you should Close Before You Doze.

Safe and happy holidays to you, and I’ll see you in 2022!
