Yes – Iceland! Robin Greenberg of Perkins Eastman sent me today’s Wordless Wednesday photo, taken in a Christmas-themed store in Iceland. The egress door is so cleverly disguised, it looks like the exit sign is in the wrong place! Who else has vacation photos to share?

Code violations in multiple languages !!!
You are reaching the world,
I can’t wait to get back out into the world and find my own code issues! 🙂

And a lever that looks about as stable as a toilet handle! Wow – I can only imagine the chaos that could ensure there.
No joke, I actually laughed out loud at this!! And now I only see a toilet lever!!
Wow, the threat of a liability suit doesn’t eclipse “merchandising” the store and block an exit! Even if you knew where the door was, and you stepped over the things on the floor, and you pushed the tree out of the way, you would then push the door open, only to get clobbered by the large candle jars on the door’s shelf. Ouch!
It seems like stores like this are some of the biggest offenders!

We are also ASSUMING that the real exit door opens on the left side of the door!! It would be a real cluster if the real exit door handle was on the right side and when you opened the white door it only opens about 5-6 inches but you are not able to reach the exit door handle on the right side. (I’ve typed this a couple of times,…..does that make sense to everyone???) It’s late!!! 🙂
Apparently, fire codes and fire prevention/inspection efforts in Iceland are about as lax as in the US.
At least the menorah isn’t lit…
