These Fixed-it Friday photos were posted by Andrew Clark on the Crap Locksmithing Facebook page. I’ll give the installer points for creativity, and a bonus point for using all of the parts that came in the box with the deadbolt!

I suppose when a locksmith is asked to install a deadbolt on an existing gate, he/she does whatever is necessary to complete the installation, even though it might turn out looking like it was done half-fast instead of at full-speed.
I worked with specialty gate manufacturers and fabricators on numerous projects throughout my career and I furnished templates and, sometimes, physical samples to them early in the project so they could fabricate plates, brackets and lock boxes as needed to accept the deadbolts, locksets, exit devices, mag locks, door closers, etc. The prep work allowed for the hardware to be installed properly at the jobsite and the finished gates looked great!
I’m doing the same on the doors I’m having made for my off-grid project, Jerry! Fingers crossed! 🙂

I wonder just how happy the “locksmith” was with himself after that install.
I’m guessing pretty happy! 🙂
