Um, yep… that’s crap alright!
My recommended repair for torn-out full lip residential strikes on 1-3/8″ door jambs is the Prime Line Products U-9422, see link:
https://www.primeline.net/u-9422-security-latch-strike-4-14-steel-polished-brass-plated
Replaces standard strike and includes two 3″ long wood screws to anchor thru the jamb into 2″ x 4″ framing. We use a router template to speed up installation. Makes for a very neat and secure repair
At least he used finish nails!
