Most of you know that the term “dogging” has to do with putting panic hardware in the unlatched position to unlock the door for a period of time. Paul Goldense of Goldense Building Products sent me today’s Fixed-it Friday photos. He is working on a video with NFPA, and here’s what his email said:
“Jen Sisco and I were together this week at NFPA filming the fire door inspection video. We filmed at 5am to avoid the heat in their warehouse and practice social distancing from warehouse staff. When we got there the building was locked and someone said they would unlock the door and ‘dog it open’. Here is the NFPA method of dogging a door open. Jen said we should expect to see these photos on your blog.”

AWWW…what’s the doggies name?
“Watergate”

I expect to see this in the latest NFPA code. Right next to Mitch Hedbergs famous; “If you’re flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.”.
