I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is that we are out of the laminated fire door inspection cards that have been available for the last few years. If you have sent me a request for cards and have not received them, you’re probably on the backorder list. (I’m sorry!)
The good news is that I’ll be updating the cards and reprinting them, AND you have an opportunity to suggest modifications. Is there information that’s missing? Do you like the size and format? Should they continue to be laminated, or would you prefer to just be able to print them yourself on paper or card stock? The card was originally based on the 2013 edition of NFPA 80. Since then, the 2016 and 2019 editions of the standard have been published so I will check for updates.
What else?
If you’d like to order some of the new cards when they’re ready, leave a comment in the reply box with the quantity you need so I can make sure the initial order is large enough. I’d also love to know who you’re sharing them with / what you’re using them for.
Here are the current cards – you can click to enlarge them a bit and then leave me any suggestions or other information in the reply box.
Are annual fire door inspections being enforced in your jurisdiction?

Hi Lori
You sent me 10 last years and I already ran out, my customers love them, I didn’t dare ask for more, but I will appreciate you sending may be an other 10.
And thanks a lot for everything you do.
You should never hesitate to ask for more! It’s no problem!!

I would definitely like some of these cards, so that we may share them with our project owners.
A minimum of 25 should do, unless that exceeds the maximum.
Thank you!
Lori,
I could use 10 fire door cards, I use them at our schools and nursing homes. Thank You

Hi Lori.
They should remain laminated. I carry these as standard kit and use them as a leave behind at new accounts. Facilities I call on regularly often carry them on their tool carts so I get requests for additional cards from time to time. I have ordered 50 at a time in the past. I have about that many of the current version so I’ll take 50 of the new ones when ready!

Lori,
I would LOVE to have these cards!! I have two universities in my town (Dominican and Concordia, River Forest, IL.) and both of them have a number of older rolling and sliding Fire Doors that were installed many years ago to separate buildings before Sprinklers were installed. There are a number of buildings that are not sprinklered, so the fire doors are still required. I plan on giving the cards to the Buildings and Grounds Supervisors to back up that they are to be inspected on an annual basis. I am also writing them up every year because they do not operate correctly and they are always propped open. If I can have 30 or so. I also like the idea of making them available to print ourselves.
Thank You Lori.
I am dismayed by the lack of inspection. Most facilities I call upon are aware of the CMS requirement for annual inspections. Many take a one day seminar and believe they are qualified to self-inspect their buildings. They are not qualified because they do not know the model codes, the products and their correct application. My thought is that this will not change until their is a major incident and the owners are directed to get their buildings safe by code officials or their insurance underwriters.

I know it has been slow, but it’s coming! I have a lot of people contacting me about how to get training.

NJ is beginning to (finally) enforce NFPA 80 2013. This varies by AHJ and geography.
I never have seen your cards and would like to get on the list please
A fire marshal from NJ told me that he was really excited that the state had adopted a version of the IFC that referenced an edition of 80 that required inspections. He was planning to start enforcing them right away.
– Lori
Lori,
I could use about 50 please
Thank you
Dan
how about a place for our name and phone number on the new cards
Do you think it would work if I left a spot that you could add a sticker to? Since the cards are laminated, you can’t print your address on them – although you could if you didn’t want to use the laminated ones or if you wanted to have them laminated locally.
– Lori
one could manually print their own stickers and “laminate” that
sticker with clear “packing tape”…
I’ll take a few- 10 or 20. I hand them to architects as well as building owners who need a quick reference about fire rated door assemblies. Definitely keep the lamination! And yes, fire door inspections are finally being enforced in my area.
Lori ..Would love to get a couple (2) of sets of these for my self and business associate. They would be most welcome and a definite benefit for my encounters with customers who know better .read cheap here . …
By the way Lori I’m in Cancun for the next 14 days on vacation …
Wow – have fun!!

Lori, Please send 5 cards. Prefer 11″ high (instead of 12″).
Among product reps and industry experts I know, you are unique in generosity and support.
Thank you.
Aww…thanks Kent! I think 11 inches long would be better as well, and I already asked the designers to consider making it that size.

Hi Lori, if you could send 20 of the new cards to H&G Sales please.
You have a helpful and a times humerus website.
Like all others I would like about 25 laminated cards for distribution to my staff and some end users.

Hi Lori,
Love the cards but is there any way for them to be a little shorter?
I like to keep mine in a binder but it sticks out about an inch.
Thanks for all you do and we hope you have a great rest of your day!
Harry’s Locksmith would love around 20 of the new cards !!!

Hi Scott –
I’ve asked our creative services team to make the cards 11 inches tall instead of 12, which will allow people to more easily print them locally if they’d like. And they won’t stick out of your binder! 🙂
