As one of Allegion’s regional training managers, Deputy Jeff Tock spends a lot of time on the road – and stays in a lot of hotels. Considering the liability a hotel could face if their fire door assemblies failed to perform during a fire, the repair methods employed by many hotels seem pretty irresponsible.

Fixed pivot point versus traveling pivot point, something has to give somewhere!
It boils down to budget, and knowledge, or ignorance of the consequences. Hotel owners dont want to spend , and the hotel handyman does his best, as instructed.
That’s cause he stays at all the fancy hotels
Listed and labeled? Looks like one for the lab.
An added benefit of having multiple hinges whose pivot points don’t match is that the door will probably self-close, even if the closer fails. 🙂
Once the hotel opens the cost are expenses to the managers budget not capitalized to the corporation. That’s why you see stuff like this. Restaurants are the same.

looks like continuous hinge pivot is lined right up with hinge pin, but the look sucks. that us4 finish doesn’t hold up on the butt hinge.
