FF: Do Not Bend

The theory is that the stick on this hold-open is there so you don’t have to bend over to install/remove the wedge.  I’ll bet the architect who chose those door pulls didn’t have this aesthetic in mind.  Thank you to Rachel Smith of Karpen Steel for this Fixed-it Friday photo!

    Just love high class places

They do not use those dollar store, door stops

  2. Tom chin @ VAS DOOR AND HARDWARE says:

What happened to the top rods if any for those double doors?

    • Lori says:

They are concealed vertical rod devices. The thing that looks like a bottom rod is actually a stick that is attached to the hold-open wedge.

  3. Jim Hooker says:

I did not know that Von Duprin made a “bottom rod only” 9927 option!

  4. Tom Breese says:

We have a local fire marshal who would love to add that one to his collection — he’ll smile for you as he writes out his fix-it ticket.

  5. Ramesh Kareliya, AHC says:

Surface bottom Rod (Stick) do not have 626 or 630 finish.
