I get a lot of ideas.  Sometimes they turn out great – like iDigHardware!  The site was just an idea that I had 17+ years ago, and now we’re approaching the milestone of 4,000 posts on the site!

Occasionally I have an idea that doesn’t go over so well.  I thought it might be time to retire the Allegion Code Reference Guide, but I was wrong.  In my defense, the guide has been around for a loooooong time.  I created the New England version in the 1990’s, revised it to include the model codes and referenced standards in 2004, and updated it every few years.  I was thinking maybe it was time for the guide to go digital – who even reads books these days??  (Just kidding – I read a lot of books!)

Well apparently, a lot of people still use the Code Reference Guide.  The word “love” has even been thrown around when describing this resource.  It has highlights from the codes and standards related to door openings, and articles about topics that I receive a lot of questions about.  Of course the guide doesn’t include everything you might need to know about these requirements, but you can use the paragraph numbers from the guide to find the right section in the applicable code.  (We use UpCodes for code access – you can check it out for free.)

So the guide has been updated once again.  It is available as a digital flip-book and a downloadable PDF – these versions both include links to additional information.  And if you would prefer a hard copy, those are available too.

You can access the guide here.
