Last week, I published a couple of posts (#1, #2) about doors I saw while attending the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) meetings in Nashville. An iDigHardware reader asked me what the organization was all about and why I was part of it. To be honest, even after more than twenty years in the industry, I didn’t know about all of the ways BHMA impacts the hardware industry.
I’ve been directly involved with the organization for probably 10 years now; I’m the current chair of the Marketing Committee and an active member of the Codes, Government, and Industry Affairs Committee. Through this involvement, I’ve gotten a first-hand look at how the standards are developed, the value of the BHMA Certified Products Directory (CPD), the work of the CGIA in code development, and other tools and resources made available by the organization.
