Lee Frazier of Allegion sent me today’s Fixed-it Friday photo, taken in a school. I have edited this post based on a reader’s email telling me that this is not a DIY EPT, but a concealed power transfer. I have never seen this product in the wild, and I guess Lee had not seen it either! You learn something new every day!

As much as I hate to admit it… they get some points for professional LOOK and creativity.
Haven’t seen it in about 5 years, but
I had hotel project with tall ballroom entry doors with wide throw continuous hinges with ept’s. I found that ABH had just tested their version ept with flex conduit from leaf to leaf., similar to what I see in Lee’s photo.
I have used this Command Access concealed door loop once before years ago. it’s relatively easy to install. It would be interesting to go back and see how the wiring held up. The wiring moves and bends every single door cycle. I’m not sure if that might cause a connection issue over time.

I think it a tailor made in the field by the contractor. The tube shall be retracted into the door slab when door is closing. The tube will scrape to the rose. It may not work long
That is not a fix it yourself solution. That is a concealed door loop by Command Access.
there’s a lot going on over there.
full surface continuous hinge (noticed the indent on the weather-strip caused from the thru-bolt on the door)
DPS
filler plate for the mortise hinge
anything else?
