Today’s Wordless Wednesday photo, sent in by Rick Eldridge, is from the generator room of a hospital. We’ll just assume (fingers crossed!) that it’s not a fire door assembly.

Gotta love the conduit work to the left, and the duct work above the “Vent Door” as well. Shortcuts usually end up being the longest path ever taken.
I think that is the exhaust. It shout be vented to the top of the building.
Hope it’s not a fire door for sure.
From my early career that exhaust needs to be directed up and lengthen also.
Phew! Not my hospital!
Can you say Carbon Monoxide???!!!!! That certainly is not a 10 foot separation of exhaust to intake! Does this have an overhang above it? Looks like it could. Would like to see a different view, maybe from further back.
I’m pretty sure that this installation is NOT code compliant in any edition of NFPA 99!!!
I don’t think that vent is for combustibles. It more likely the radiator exhaust vent.
Lori,
“I need to vent”
An apropos play on word and pun.

Thanks Daniel! I worked really hard to come up with that one. LOL

Well, at least now the generator’s got a fighting chance at getting cooler fresher air rather than sucking in hot exhaust from overhead.
Will Allegion/Steelcraft be cataloging these hoods anytime soon?
I don’t think they are on our product roadmap! 🙂

Seems like an HVAC inspection is needed here 🙂
