Ben Gorton posted this photo on the page of the Facebook group called “There’s no crying in hollow metal”, and I just knew I had to share it (with permission) for Wordless Wednesday. This door is an emergency exit for a shooting range, and I’m #wordless.

There are quite a few problems with that door.
like the bolts to lock it from inside
Such a little closer for what appears to be a heavy door. Is 5 motion egress allowed?
Looks like they need one of those dispensary multi-point locks. Being in colorful Colorado, we’ve sold and installed more than a few of those.
I saw similar door, but there was a code complaint exit next to it.
I think the secure door was a little wider, that I took to move equipment in and out.
I’m sure they are more concerned about break ins than break outs ….. totally illegal….but effective, hopefully they comply with the rules of locking up ammunition and firearms. I have seen in some jurisdictions the AHJ allowing this as long as it remains unlocked during business hours
They can just shoot at the fire until it retreats! No need for clearly marked emergency exits!
If you look closely at the bolts the ones on the opening side of the door are retracted and the two on the hinge side will pull out of the frame when the door is opened.
