As I have mentioned before, it’s one thing to look at a code or standard and see a book.  It’s another thing to look at a code or standard and understand the driving force behind it.  In this month’s issue of Door Security + Safety, I have an article about NFPA 3000, a new standard that helps organizations and communities plan for, respond to, and recover from active shooter / hostile events.

To help us see the importance of the standard and the passion of those who helped to create it, NFPA has published three stories featuring the emergency responders who contributed their insight to NFPA 3000, explaining why publishing the standard was so important to them.
